tHe praYer waLL

Welcome! If you’ve taken the photo tour of my office, you may have noticed this painting over my writing desk. It’s one of my most treasured Mother’s Day gifts. The story of how it found its way to me is as special to me as the art.

In the mid nineties, Chipper was delivering an order of my calligraphy to one of our retailers. It so happened that Joshua and Jena were with him that day and when they saw it on display, they told their daddy that she looked like Mama.

He said that when he studied it, she did indeed look like me. It was quite expensive so my savvy husband bartered with the store manager to work out a deal.

The joy on their faces that morning, still makes my heart dance all these years later-a life long memory that I’ll forever cherish. Evening and morning and at noon, I will pray and cry aloud. And HE shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

Directions to use the wall is found in my March 25th, post, I need this, you need that, let’s link up. Give it a read, come back & post your request. If you spend time praying for others, post a comment letting us know and please feel free to leave any encouraging words. I honestly believe that our faithful GOD will honor this endeavor, so I want to praise HIM in advance!

Friends for the journey,

I had about 5 minutes to jump online this evening before heading out to meet with a wonderful group of Christian friends and had just time to read your blog. We are meeting to practice for a drama that we are participating in at an upcoming ladies event called “She Treat”. PLEASE PRAY FOR US-that we’ll touch hearts and reach souls for HIM. And you can count me in your prayer chain. More to write about later. Love you girl and thanks for your prayers!!!

Hey L, I love your idea! I believe in a God that works miracles too! God has just answered our prayers to see our sister carry a baby after 12 years of trying. The cool thing is that God answered this prayer while Kathy and I did a 21 Day Daniel fast two years in a row-which my sister knew we were doing.
Could you please put my sister Anita’s name on your prayer list. She is coming to church tomorrow night to watch Kathy and I graduate from Bible College. She has a very high position in the Mormon church in New Zealand and we are believing for not just her but her whole family to come to the Lord.
    Thank you!

So, I must admit that I was a bit hesitant to post anything after reading this the other day. But, I don’t know why. To be a bit ‘dangerously transparent’ myself, I am always hesitant to ask for help. What is that about? Well, I’m not entirely sure, but I think it has something to do with my prideful, independent, and self-sufficient nature. I am reading ‘A Praying Life’ by Paul Miller (highly recommend it!) with a group at my church for single ladies led by my pastors wife, and I just picked it up and the chapter was about asking for prayer from people who may have a ‘direct line access’ to God. I immediately thought of this blog post that I had read the other day and was too nervous, or busy, or whatever to post my own prayer requests.

So, better late than never, here they are (I feel honored to have you and others praying for me)::

    1. I am looking to buy a house in Pittsburgh. Not that I am going to be stuck here forever, but as I get my PhD, it just makes sense not to sink a lot of money into a rental. This is a BIG deal, so please pray for the right neighborhood, house, and that I would find some Godly roommates (another proposition that makes me nervous as I live alone now).

    2. Pray that I will find and continue to find some Christian science community. Last year I went through a quarter-life crisis of sorts (another story for another time), and ever since I have been somewhat struggling in my lab work (on the plus side, I started attending church again -around Aug of last year- for the first time in about 3 years, and have found Christian community like I have never experienced).

    3. Pray for 3 specific people in my life who are not believers.

Thank you so much! I am so excited to see what the Lord will do through this!

Pray for my grandmother Ruth. She is in the final stages of life and we are waiting. Mom and dad are exhausted and need a good night’s sleep and peace of mind. My grandfather isn’t in the best health and he is keeping a constant vigil and holding it together for everyone else.

It’s such a blessing for me to check in on the prayer wall and find that it’s being used! I want each of you to know that I have prayed for your needs evening, morning and at noon. Please continue to make your requests and while you’re here…glance over the needs of others sisters. My love to you all!

Hello all of you, I’m a new pastor’s wife still trying to learn the ropes of what’s expected of me in my new role as a minister’s wife. I think I’m doing okay but sometimes I’m overwhelmed with all the responsibilities I’ve inherited. I didn’t grow up in church so most of this is really kind of new to me. Please pray that I will gain more knowledge and wisdom. I love to read the post and comments that come to this blog. Thanks for being so honest about what it means to be a pastor’s wife..the good parts and the not so good, too.

This may seem silly but I know that God is very involved in even the smallest of details of our lives and so I am asking for you to pray with me that through God’s leadership we will find our next family vehicle. Ours was totalled this past week and I know that, just as HE has in the past, HE will do this time and lead us to the perfect vehicle for our family. When I think about the vehicle that was recently totalled….and the way that HE led us to that vehicle….and the blessing that is was to the blind widow woman who sold it to us (for a family of 6 to purchase it)…I know with all trust and confidence that HE is going to lead us now….let the prayer wheels rolls!

Please pray for my sister in laws father. He was seriously injured in one of the tornadoes that ripped through Mississippi yesterday. The family is praising the Lord that he is alive. He has a collasped lung and various other injuries. But God is the great healer. Also, alot of neighbors in their area suffered great damage. Please pray for them also.

PEGGY! Oh my GOODNESS, what a fabulous surprise to see this today. With our upcoming move to Africa, I’ve been quite negligent with the blog and only popped over to check prayer wall notices, Do I remember you? Chick, you and Dennis were the COOLEST married couple this little girl knew! I even remember that you were the only person back then who put up a Christmas tree before Halloween! You placed lifelong impressions on my heart and it brings me so much happiness to be taken back to those days again. I’m deeply sorry to read of Dennis’s passing. Chipper and I have been married now for 33 years and I can’t begin to think what it would be like if he were gone. I will pray for you dear friend. I’ll be chatting to Mama later on today and can’t wait to tell her that we reconnected. My dad is under Hospice care now so we need your prayers, too. Much love! Lis 🙂
